Use Cases

Last updated: December 17, 2025

Use Cases are powerful rollups of data that provide tangible insights into which areas a company is investing.

With Use Cases, you can query and monitor companies by the activities their infrastructure enables, for example, Big Data, Video Delivery, eCommerce, or Blockchain. For a complete list of supported Use Cases, refer to the Intricately Data Library.

Where do Use Cases come from?

Our platform builds Use Cases by tapping into three distinct data sources

  1. Application Behavior - By understanding an application's behavior, we're able to identify which use cases an application was designed to support.
  2. Product Categories - Which products has a company adopted and which use cases does each product support?
  3. Published Content - Which use cases does a company reference across the content they openly publish?

Below are a few examples of the Use Cases we're able to identify from each data source:

Viewing Use Cases

Use Cases are data objects with a number of data attributes to help data teams size each Use Case. The following data attributes are not available via flat-file Export:

Data Attribute Example Value Description
Traffic (ITV) 1944523 The Intricately Traffic Value (ITV) that corresponds to the Use Case. The ITV of a Use Case represents the amount of digital demand (traffic) the Use Case receives.
Application Count 10 The number of applications associated with the Use Case.
Product Count 5 The number of products associated with the Use Case.

Because we support many Use Cases and each Use Case has many attributes, a flat-file Excel format is not well suited to display Use Case objects across many company records.
